About Me
Libby is a seasoned mining industry professional, having worked in the mining industry since 1999, holding qualifications as an Environmental Scientist (Geology Major) and an MBA. Her career progression began in a front-line environment and community role, advancing through senior leadership positions across Business Improvement, Environment, Corporate Affairs, and Indigenous Engagement with BHP since 2001. She recently served as Vice President External Affairs in Toronto, Canada, focusing on growth and new operating jurisdictions from an above-ground risk and opportunity perspective. Libby has extensive cross-commodity and functional experience, combined with operational roles and offers a comprehensive industry perspective—from local community engagements to collaboration with CEO and Chairman’s Offices, government, and NGOs. Throughout her career, Libby developed a deep connection to Indigenous Engagement, transitioning into native title commercial negotiations and grassroots engagement after working with Martu in the western desert region in Western Australia. Libby has proven leadership in forming strong, supportive, and motivated teams, with a focus on understanding people, building loyalty, and fostering a vision-driven environment. She is known for taking carefully calculated risks and championing diverse thought leadership, contributing significantly to company advancements
particularly in Indigenous engagement. Libby is dedicated to driving change in social and sustainability areas within mining and beyond, leveraging extensive industry experience and broad networks cultivated over a 20+ year career.
